The Government of India has operationalized the PM-PRANAM (Programme for Restoration, Awareness, Nourishment and Amelioration of Mother Earth) initiative to curb excessive chemical fertilizer consumption and restore balanced soil organic carbon (SOC).
Key Pillars of the Scheme:
- 1Incentive Sharing: 50% of the fertilizer subsidy saved by states will be passed back as direct development grants for organic farming clusters.
- 2Market Development Assistance (MDA): ₹1,500 per MT financial assistance for Fermented Organic Manure (FOM) and Bio-gas slurry.
- 3Soil Health Card Integration: Free soil testing every 2 years across 12 soil parameters including Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium, Zinc, and pH balance.
Farmers adopting natural cow-dung based formulations (Jeevamrut, Beejamrit) and green manuring with Dhaincha or Sunhemp can register for PGS-India Organic Certification with zero fees through KrishiDoot partner kendras.
