The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has expanded the PM-KUSUM (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan) scheme, allowing millions of farmers without grid connectivity to switch from high-cost diesel pumps to clean solar power.
Subsidy Breakdown for Standalone Solar Pumps:
- ✔Central Financial Assistance (CFA): 30% to 50% based on state category
- ✔State Government Subsidy: 30% to 40%
- ✔Farmer Share: Only 10% to 20% (with easy bank loan assistance under Agriculture Infrastructure Fund)
Available Pump Configurations:
- 13 HP DC / AC Submersible Pump: Recommended for 2 to 3 acres farm holding.
- 25 HP DC / AC Submersible Pump: Ideal for 4 to 6 acres with tubewell depth up to 100 meters.
- 37.5 HP DC / AC Pump: For large community irrigation and farmer groups.
